This is us... more than just an excellent school
The European School RheinMain is one of the 33 schools within the renowned European Schools System which has schools all over Europe. Originally founded to offer excellent education for the officials of the European Commission in 1950’s, this school system has gone from strength to strength and has established itself as one of the leading school systems if not the leading one in the world.
The European School system offers 2 years of Pre-Primary, 5 years of Primary and 7 years of Secondary education leading to the prestigious European Baccalaureate; a diploma which is recognized in all the Member States by inter-governmental treaties and world-wide for its outstanding reputation. All European Schools follow an identical curriculum which is pre-requisite to access the European Baccalaureate.
The European School RheinMain is the first “free” European School when it comes to the admission of students, i.e. students are admitted irrelevant of the employer of the parents: ESRM is open to all interested students and not only to so–called entitled ones. Consisting of a brand new campus of the highest architectural standard, including a four-field sports hall and super modern facilities, the European School RheinMain is situated on the outskirts of Frankfurt surrounded by rolling countryside. Since its opening in September 2012, the school has seen an amazing development, leading to more than 1700 students in this academic year. Our highly qualified and dedicated staff has made this success possible and will continue to maintain the high standards and expectations that have been set.
Feedback by students and parents gives us some indication of the reasons behind our success as a new and vibrant school:
• our position as a fully accredited European School, offering and running the European Baccalaureate;
• our identity as a school and a community, where traditional European values underpin our respectful way of living and working together;
• our active interest in the individual child as a young learner and a young citizen;
• our conviction that the daily life in a school should be comfortable, full of variation and above all free of tension and concerns. Visitors to our European School are enchanted by the atmosphere in our school, where we greet each other with a smile, share a certain lightness of being, respect and support each other and, where we all try to fulfill our individual ambitions and potential without forgetting to look after each other.
We do, like any good school, cherish and enjoy our state of excellence but we keep on striving for the optimum for our students by constantly trying to improve our quality and our caring environment even more.
In September 2021, the European School RheinMain successfully expanded by opening an International Baccalaureate (IB) branch within its Secondary School, aptly named the International School RheinMain (ISRM). Currently, ISRM offers the Middle Years Program (MYP) for Grades 1-5, and the Diploma Program (DP) just commenced in September 2024. We are witnessing a steady increase in student enrolment. Unlike the European School, where the curriculum is multilingual, ISRM conducts all subjects—except the second language—in English, providing flexibility where learning a third language is not mandatory.
